Team up and take on the battlefield together in our Two-Headed Giant event, themed around Daring Duos. This special multiplayer format lets two players join forces as a single team, combining their strategies, resources, and coordination to defeat opposing teams. Whether you arrive with a trusted partner or find one at the event, Two-Headed Giant is a fun and collaborative way to experience Magic: The Gathering.
In Two-Headed Giant, each team consists of two players who share a combined life total, typically starting at 30 life. While teammates work together toward victory, each player still uses their own deck, hand, battlefield, and graveyard. Both players sit next to each other and take their turns simultaneously as a team, creating opportunities for coordinated attacks, combined spellcasting, and clever teamwork.
During a team’s turn, both players draw a card at the start of the draw step and can play spells and abilities in any order they choose. Teammates can communicate freely, plan their strategy together, and determine the best way to sequence their plays. When the team enters combat, the attacking team declares attackers together, and the defending team blocks as a team as well. Creatures can attack either opposing player, but damage dealt to a player reduces the shared life total of that team.
Many spells and abilities that refer to “each opponent” affect both players on the opposing team, making certain cards especially powerful in this format. Likewise, teamwork allows players to combine different deck strategies in ways that might not be possible in a traditional one-on-one game. Because of this cooperative playstyle, Two-Headed Giant often leads to dynamic games filled with big turns, creative interactions, and memorable moments.
The Daring Duos theme encourages players to bring decks that feature characters who work well together, either through lore or gameplay synergy. You might build around legendary partners such as Splinter and one of the Ninja Turtles, two Theros gods standing side by side, or iconic vampire figures like Anje Falkenrath and Edgar Markov. The theme is meant to inspire fun, flavorful deckbuilding while still allowing players to express their creativity.
This event will consist of three best of one rounds, each lasting 60 minutes. Teams will compete against other duos throughout the evening, with each match highlighting teamwork, communication, and strategic coordination between partners.
Prizing will be awarded based on match wins. For each match your team wins, each team member will receive one non-foil promo pack. This structure rewards consistent performance while still keeping the focus on fun, teamwork, and the spirit of the event.
If you enjoy collaborative gameplay, thematic deckbuilding, and the opportunity to share victories with a partner, the Two-Headed Giant format offers a unique way to experience Magic. Gather your ally, build your daring duo, and see if your team has what it takes to conquer the battlefield together.
